St Mewan proposals to annex St Ewe Parish are withdrawn
16th July. Cornwall Council has received St Ewe Parish Council’s Submission (available to download here) for no change (ref: 2019070086) for the Community Governance Review for Cornwall. It will be passed to the Electoral Review Panel and they may have additional questions, in which case they will be in touch again.
4th July, 9.00 pm — JUST IN: Thank you to everyone who contributed to an excellent result! Judging from the extraordinary meeting of St Mewan Parish Council this evening, it appears that the semi-urban parish of St Mewan PC has a very different definition of viability and sustainability than the rural parish of St Ewe. Thankfully St Mewan listened to all those ‘boots on the ground’ that showed St Mewan what community cohesion and future viability mean for St Ewe.
St Mewan has retracted both proposals to annex St Ewe parish and we all agree to continue as the best of neighbours.
Thank you St Mewan PC for listening to the heartfelt reason of St Ewe parishioners.
1st July JUST IN: There is a new St Mewan Parish Council proposal to Cornwall Council to enlarge its borders:
The St Mewan working party recommends to its parish council that St Mewan:
• form an “enlarged St Mewan Parish” by annexing all of St Ewe parish.
• 2 councillors on St Mewan parish council would represent all of St Ewe Parish.

St Ewe Parish Council must respond to Cornwall Council’s Community Governance Review panel about this proposal by mid-July.
St Ewe Parish Council would like to know what the residents affected by St Mewan’s proposal think.
St Mewan Parish Council made this proposal (below) in may and it was discussed with representatives from St Mewan Parish Council and representatives from Grampound with Creed Parish Council during the Public Session of an extraordinary meeting of St Ewe Parish Council held Tuesday, 28 May – Draft Minutes.
